Solicitation

We've all dealt with solicitation, and while there are many legitimate businesses that may solicit, the reality is that most are unwanted.  Summertime brings out a variety of solicitors, and they have been active in Foxfield, so we wanted to share a few tips.

  • Politely but firmly say no to any unwanted solicitation.  No other explanation is needed, so don't feel pressured to provide details.
  • For safety reasons, do not open the door or invite strangers into your home.
  • If a solicitor is aggressive and isn't responding to your response, try asking for their credentials and their manager's contact information.  If you don't feel safe, close the door completely and ask them to leave the premises.
  • Some may try to present savings because they have or will be providing services to your neighbors--i.e. a group discount approach.  In many cases, that is not the case so if you aren't interested, don't engage the person any further.
