The number of dead pine trees is very high this year. With the combination of damage from hailstorms, and the lack of wintertime watering, many trees are weak and vulnerable to pine beetle infestation.
How can you help?
- Cut down dead or diseased trees and dispose of all wood. Pine Beetles are attracted to wood piles, so getting rid of the wood is critical.
Water throughout the year--even in winter. Pro-tip: Filling 5-gallon buckets with drilled holes near the trees allows for steady irrigation.
